Ambulatory events
Ambulatory is a term commonly used for those individuals who have a disability but are capable of walking, running & jumping unassisted or with a guide (for vision impairments). The ambulatory group of athletes comprises a large demographic of those with cerebral palsy, vision impairments, amputations, short stature, dwarfism, club feet, limb deficiency as well as those who have had a traumatic brain injury, stroke or other neurological impairment that impacts mobility.
Equipment
ParaSport Spokane provides equipment such as race chairs and throwing implements, should an athlete require a guide runner, we will do our best to find a guide who will work well with them.

On the track: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1,500m, 5,000m, 10,000m -Ambulatory & Wheelchair racing
In the field: Ambulatory & Seated throws – shot put, discus, javelin and club; Ambulatory* jumps – long jump, high jump

Washington is one of the few states that offers wheelchair racing and ambulatory events integrated within High School Track & Field! ParaSport Spokane advocates on behalf of all of its members, as well as any person with a physical disability who are of school age in Washington State. Please contact us for more details.
